GIVE THANKS AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE
As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, I would like to take a minute to remind us all of the importance of family, friends and traditions.
Personally, I feel very blessed by the supportive friends, families and professional colleagues in my life.
And yet, the holiday season can be a stressful time for us as individuals and as business professionals. It can be especially stressful given the financial challenges so many of us have faced this year. The thought of buying gifts can, quite frankly, be a bit overwhelming. It is in times like this that we especially need to call on our colleagues - our fellow members - in the Corona Chamber. Whether you are looking for a specific gift, or if you simply need recommendations on how to get though the “gift giving” season and stay within a limited budget, there are Chamber members who can help.
This final quarter of the year is an apprehensive time for all businessowners. So, once you’ve decided what you are going to buy, please remember to Shop Corona. Truly, every purchase makes a difference to our local economy. I would also suggest that we each take a minute when we are out in our business community to thank those shop owners, restaurant and retail managers we come into contact with. Let’s be joyful shoppers and remember that this “shopping season” is especially stressful for those trying to keep their businesses afloat.
Yes, we may be worried and have true concerns with our financial health, but let’s use this time of Thanksgiving to step back, look around and count our blessings. A good way to act on this thought would be to find somewhere to volunteer this season. Our community service providers have been among the hardest hit by these financial times, and yet, the number of people they serve has greatly increased.
I am reminded of a statement attributed to Barbara Bush: “Some people give time, some money, some their skills and connections, some literally give their life’s blood… but everyone has something to give.
So….Let’s be thankful, Shop Corona, and find opportunities for service.
